A place to retreat to
Am in the final stretch of my reset meal plan, aka Whole 30. Everyone asks me do you feel better? Do you feel different? No, not really, was this an attitude adjustment I did not know about? Seriously, what is with the questions like that?
What I have noticed is that other than the bread (OMG I have not baked in a MONTH almost, it is KILLING ME!) dairy, beans, sugars and alcohol (yeah, I never said easy, eh?) that I don’t miss them much, other than actually making a lot of the foods, the act of making them, strange eh? Making my own bread was a routine, so it is missed and I love to bake, it is science at it’s best and something I excel at, or so I’ve been told.
Making my own mayo and ketchup was, well, meh. I mean they tasted okay but not as satisfying for me as a cook/baker. Do I have more energy? I power nap harder, so apparently, I am now a SLOTH, so Yay me over here winning!
I picked up a nasty viral thing going around, so that was definitely 10 pounds down the toilet, as they say….because, yeah that is EXACTLY what my doctor said. Yes, my doctor is on board with this, because with any dietary change, you should consult your physician. No idea how my panels turned out, then again, no news is good news!
Since Snowpocalypse last month (April, so far away on a 99-degree day) back on my outdoor walk regimen, except today, far too muggy and all the cottonwood just let me curl up in a ball and die at home, thank you! So back on the recumbent bike and yoga. (sniff….)
Other things I learned this week? Well, I am an amazing writer and planner, which is fortunate since my side-gig involves me running a business where I do EXACTLY THAT, thank you very much. So it is nice to get good feedback from clients for sure!
Can say I have learned a lot about myself in the process of this elimination diet, that I have a ton of willpower, can do whatever I set my mind too (which I knew already, but just needed a reminder) and that really, 30 days not that long and this all ends on National Donut Day, coincidence? Completely but hey, who am I to spit in the eye of fate, eh? So we can guess what my first will be back on the normal train…
On today, Memorial Day here in the States, I would like to take a moment and remember my brothers and sisters in arms who never made it home, rest in peace and may you always be honored in the hearts of your loved ones.
