Hustle

How do you hustle? Do you plan? Do you go on inspiration? What moves you towards your goals? Or do you just wander around and hope it hits?

If it is the latter, I have news for you, it does NOT work that way, trust me, kids. You gotta work for it, you have to put in the hours, you have to pay your dues, while the amount of dues varies for everyone, you have got to put in the time and effort towards your dream or dreams, you just do.

As a person who is the middle of their hustle, I can say, once you get out of your own way, you actually move forward at an accelerated rate. Yes, we all have resistance, change is frightening for most, for me it is not so much, as my childhood was never the SSDD most people got unless you are speaking to the abuse, that was definitely SSDD. The externals were never the same and neither was my abuser’s triggers, so growing up on quicksand (it is a real threat, in a metaphorical way) you learn that change is a way of life and rolling with the punches (literally and figuratively) is an exhausting way of life.

For me, in my journey, the pivot comes after I get my head around what it is I am trying to move towards. So once I can comprehend the why for the what, I am down with the move, period. Though sometimes the understanding the why and getting comfortable with it, well that takes a wee bit of time and adjustment. Just being honest here.

So am down with a viral bug, that has me well chained to my house, so I am using this to get my writing to-do list finished today. Not completely, I have a book to finish revising and editing, so at least I can knock off some of my list that I keep running.

I recently found a tool called Trello, which is an app that helps you create a process board for tracking your progress, virtually, without all the post-its. I am going to say, I AM IN LOVE with this app, as it is how I set up my lists, my process, so I can apply it to not just my freelance work, but also my writing, to see where I am in the overall project. This is not a paid endorsement, but a profound love of an app that helps you work smarter not harder and you can use it for groups too! And I love that I can use it on my phone in closed spaces as well, where I don’t want to take a computer…or on the go when an idea strikes, I can fire up the app and add the note to the project list and boom, I don’t forget it or can’t read it later (handwriting, the struggle is real!).

So now that I am done gushing, you can see that I am reinvigorated on my projects, even if I am not feeling so swell at the moment.

Learn to turn your obstacles into stepping stones people, you can do it!
