News and Other Lies
Listened to the local news, and they were talking about the pricing index and cost of living, blah blah blah and they spoke about food banks and supporting those. While yes, more Americans than every before are using Food Banks/Shelves to supplement their budgets, getting hit from all sides, the elephant in the room, no one seems to want to discuss, where news/governments are concerned is the egregious cost of housing in the United States and why are so many folks paying inflated and hyper-inflated costs for a basic human right/necessity, housing?
Yes, high food costs are there, skinflation is now a thing (paying more for less, Cereal, looking at you), so is astronomical rental costs, you cannot really afford food after you pay to just to have a roof over your head, because you’re take home has been eaten up and thanks to the previous administration, folks are paying higher taxes on their paychecks (less take home) than before. While, I have been saying for several years now, that the manure is going to hit the fan, we are still not there, until we discuss Housing costs, rental and homeowner, and how they have all gone up in the last seven years, if we are honest.
The hyperinflation of “property value” is hitting homeowners and keeping out home buyers, the market is now snail crawling with only the haves, the almost haves this round are now shut out. No your land is NOT worth what the county tells you, but here we are.
The other end of this, is property managers, who get tax breaks for rental properties, as they are “business” taxed not homeowner taxed. On top of this, they are not putting money back into their units, they have raised the rates of rents across the board, so a closet is now NYC prices and NYC prices are mansion prices. See where I am going? There is greed rampant, everyone is trying to make their bucks for no effort on the backs of other folks, and the news, they don’t or won’t discuss it, why?
Homelessness is the loudest symptom of a broken system and an uncaring, selfish society. We are no longer our brother’s keepers, what happened to that? This is a TOP DOWN thing, this is “Trickle Down Economics” gets you, nothing.
